What Is TITANBag®?

TITANBag® is FTG’s flexible, low-profile coastal armor geotextile bag — filled in place by pumping locally available sand or dredged material. Precision placement is possible since TITANBags® are filled in place with no port to close. The OS-series high-performance woven geotextile in TITANBag® is UV stable for long-term coastal exposure, sand-colored to match the shoreline, and engineered with high interface friction for stacked and keyed configurations.

Why Choose FTG for TITANBag®

Engineered fabric — a design decision specific to every project.

TITANBag® uses OS-series woven geotextile — the same UV-stabilized, high-interface-friction fabric series behind FTG’s award-winning coastal work. The Ft. Pierce project — four-knot tidal currents, one-year installation, 100,000+ cubic yards of fill, a legally protected marine ecosystem — demanded performance the OS-series delivers.

The complete coastal system.

TITANBag® is deployed alongside TITAN ASA™ anti-scour aprons and, for larger structures, TITANTube® core elements. FTG works with the engineer and/or contractor to conceptually design the full coastal geotextile system: bag size, scour apron configuration, stacking geometry, fill sequence. The conceptual design is part of FTG’s service.

Frequently Asked Questions — TITANBag®

TITANTube® units are large geotextile cylinders filled with slurry via hydraulic pump — used for dewatering and as the structural core of larger coastal protection structures. TITANBag® units are discrete bags filled in place with sand slurry from a smaller pump — used for revetments, armor layers, dune toe protection, and smaller structural elements. Many FTG coastal geotextile projects use both in combination.

TITANBag® is more cost-effective than poured concrete armor and has a lower environmental footprint than quarried rip-rap — especially when filled with beneficially dredged material. TITANBag® is more permeable than concrete, reducing reflected wave energy. Sand-colored UV-stable geotextile fabric is preferred over gray concrete at public beaches and coastal parks.
