Seafloor-Sealing Turbidity Control

What Is TITAN Boom™ and How Is It Different from Standard Silt Curtains?

Standard silt curtains float on the surface and extend downward — but they leave a gap at the seafloor. In tidal and current-driven environments, suspended sediment travels directly through that gap, reaching sensitive benthic habitat the curtain was designed to protect.
TITAN Boom™ seals that gap. The barrier contacts the seafloor (patent pending), keeping sediment-laden water away from seagrass, oyster beds, coral, and other benthic communities during dredging operations. This is the critical distinction for dredging sites in or adjacent to protected marine ecosystems — where turbidity plumes are a permit condition and a regulatory liability.

Frequently Asked Questions — TITAN Boom™

Standard silt curtains are surface-suspended — they extend downward but leave a gap between the curtain’s lower edge and the seafloor. In any tidal or current environment, water flow takes the path of least resistance: through that bottom gap. Sediment-laden water flows directly under the curtain and into sensitive benthic habitat. For seagrass, oyster beds, and coral, that turbidity exposure is a permit violation and an ecological impact. TITAN Boom™ seals the gap at the seafloor, closing the pathway standard curtains leave open.
